Blessed Are The Peacemakers!
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. (Matthew 5:9, NKJV)
“The moment you wake up each morning, all your wishes and hopes for the day rush at you like wild animals. And the first job each morning consists in shoving it all back; in listening to that other voice, taking that other point of view, letting that other, larger, stronger, quieter life come flowing in.” C.S. Lewis
If you’re like me, you can certainly relate to C.S. Lewis’ experience each morning - especially during these tumultuous times! Yet, he reminds us that we do have a choice each day as to whether we let our wishes and hopes drive us or allow the Lord to peacefully guide us.
This I recall to mind,
Therefore I have hope.
TheLord’slovingkindnessesindeed never cease,
For His compassions never fail.
Theyare newevery morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
“Therefore I have hope in Him.”
(Lamentations 3:21-24, NASB)
As we allow the Lord to guide us along His path of peace, we become conduits of His peace to others as peacemakers. Unlike peacekeepers trying to avoid conflict, peacemakers let God’s peace flow through them overcoming conflict. This is our calling as sons of God.
You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. (Isaiah 26:3, NKJV)
Keep on abiding,
Steve
