Exceedingly Abundantly

We made one of the best decisions of our lives twenty-five years ago when we decided to embark on a new adventure with God! We had been married almost three years, our daughter had just turned one and I was the Administrator of our family’s Electrical Contracting Company. I had wrestled with the decision for almost a year, but ultimately we decided to respond to God’s call by leaving our family business and moving to another state to attend seminary.

“I have come to see God’s definition of promotion: a promotion is not a move up the ladder; it is a move toward your call.” Max Lucado
Two church staff positions, three with schools and four with ministries later, it has been an amazing adventure! God has truly done exceeding abundantly above all that we ever could have imagined. Our part is pursuing Him and His will and He has done all the rest.
Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4
I continue to be inspired by C.S. Lewis’ challenge in his book “The Weight of Glory”, “If we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what it is meant by the offer of a holiday as the sea. We are far too easily pleased.” May God continue to open the eyes of our hearts to the hope of His calling, glory of His inheritance and greatness of His power in order that we may trust Him to do exceeding abundantly in our lives for His glory! (Ephesians 1:18-19) Keep on abiding, Steve
